The Bridge Between Worlds - The Hidden Child
Listing Details
Mina clawed and scraped her way to the surface of the collapsed orphanage, only to find no survivors. The German blitz of 1941 had accomplished its task: London was on fire, London was in ruins, and Mina was alone. Severely injured, she stumbles out of the city, into the darkness, before collapsing in front of the home of Theresa Collins. Theresa, a damaged soul, takes her in, tending to her wounds, but Mina’s odd behaviour and resemblance to her deceased daughter Lucy, reawaken Theresa’s personal daemons from the past, a past she has tried so hard to keep buried in the deep recesses of her mind. Mina, sensing Theresa’s rejection, flees, claiming she must return to her world. A world of mermaids, faeries, elves, unicorns, magic and her claim that she is the key to ending a terrible war and plague, devastating her people. Theresa’s search for Mina leads her back to the Scottish town where her former husband, Thomas, blindly seeks revenge on her as he blames her for the death of their daughter. Thomas’s hatred and relentless pursuit forces the reunited woman and child to flee in a desperate attempt to escape the man and his intent to kill them. Along the way, Theresa finds herself, unwittingly and unwillingly, pulled into the child’s fantasy world, losing her own identity and becoming unsure of which reality is real.
