Listing Details
The much-awaited third volume of the popular Wild Marchmonts series .
Both the Wild Marchmont family and the Royal Marchmont family are off to London. The earl and countess (Royals) are secretly hoping for their relatives, the unsophisticated Wilds to falter at social events. But Lady Eleanor (the matriarch of the Wilds) has more in her plans than they think. The earl also has plans to foil Lady Eleanor's surety -- he wants to pick off the feeblest of the Wilds, Roseanna.
Roseanna, the eldest of the Wild Marchmont sisters is certainly the least wild of all. For Roseanna is beautiful and compassionate also joyous around her family. But she is, in everyone's opinion, too anxious to please. Going to London with her sister Phoebe for her first London Season has everyone a little worried. She expects great things, but is too timid in public.
Lord Miles Sackville is the son of a marquis, but has displeased his father by becoming a physician. Worse still, he works with the poor. He has become rather testy as a result. He dances with Roseanna at a ball his father insists he attend, and is annoyed by her timidity. This leads to him saying an honest but impolite sentence to her. He apologises, but later Roseanna thanks him for his candour.
Now knowing in some part why she behaves so timidly, Roseanna is intrigued by the forthright doctor. She finds out about his clinic and having done so, finds her own interest. He is suspicious of her involvement but soon concludes that she has no romantic in him, but only his work.
But over time, their mutual endeavour leads to other feelings ... but Roseanna cannot believe that such a marvellous man as Mr Sackville could have any interest in her.
Will she melt the stone heart of the doctor and will she find her own self-love at last?
